It has now been about 2 months since I have used my sewing machine. For most of that time I was busy packing, getting ready to move, and moving so I was too busy to miss it very much.  For the past two weeks we have been in Oregon and it is amazing how much I miss working on projects.  My sewing machine is safely at Whitlock's here in Salem where it is getting a tune up and the rest of us are staying in a hotel while we wait for our house to close (any day now, maybe, if we can stop having delays!). Over the past month (since Craftsy redesigned their site) I have heard from several people who had issues downloading patterns that they purchased from Craftsy.  They are aware that this is an issue and haven't been able to resolve it yet. Once their website lets me view the pattern order history (that portion of their website is currently not functioning), I will be emailing each person that purchased my pattern from Craftsy over the past few weeks with a link to download the pattern PDFs. A few months ago I got an email from the wonderful people at Robert Kaufman asking me if I would like to make a mini quilt highlighting the Kona color of the year, Highlight.  Yes, yes, yes! They sent me a big stack of different Kona colors and gave me freedom to do whatever I wanted as long as the finished quilt was 20" square and as long as it highlighted Highlight. Here is my finished quilt.  My inspiration came from a box of tissues that had a simple plaid pattern - I wish I had taken a photo of it before it got lost in our move.  It was so much fun to spend so much focused time on this project.  I made large template pieces to construct the block and then handquilted lines 1/2" apart, leaving the highlight strips unquilted.  I am thinking about turning this into a pattern to make a quilt for my son's bed but I will need to come up with a simpler way to put it together. A while back when I made this pillow for a swap, I had the idea to make a Tennessee Waltz inspired quilt where there were overlapping chains of stars.  I get ideas like this sometimes and they pretty much never work out, but I drafted the pattern in EQ7 and it actually worked. Meet The Glenda Quilt, now available on Craftsy and Etsy .
