Groove Quilt
I have finished my Groove Quilt. I did have some apprehension about free motion quilting so I put this quilt top in a drawer for a little while until I decided what I wanted to do. I have only done free motion quilting a couple of times and I have never done anything other than pebble quilting so I knew that my options would be pretty limited. I do have Angela Walter's book (which is AMAZING, I honestly would have never had the courage to try this if I hadn't read the book) so if you are a beginner like me, or even if you aren't, I would definitely recommend it.
But I could not imagine straight line quilting this one, even though I love straight line quilting. The process went pretty well. My main hangup was actually that I had planned on doing some echo quilting in the white sections and I did not like how that looked so I had to rip the stitches out.
All of the solids are Cotton Couture solids from Michael Miller. They are just lovely.
This quilt is for my niece, so hopefully she still loves pink :)

ReplyDeleteIt's totally amazing! I'm catching the FMQ bug and I'm seriously considering splurging and buying that book.
ReplyDeleteoh your palette is SO fun - love it and your quilting!
ReplyDeleteI have very limited FMQ skills too. This is amazing though I am taking Angelas Craftsy class and have her book I'm hoping to get really good. I am going to give it a go on the wish quilt.

ReplyDeleteAwesome! I haven't even started mine yet and it'll be my first FMQ experience.
ReplyDeleteGood for you! Awesome finish.
ReplyDeleteWhat an eye catching quilt with your solid selection. Well done on the FMQ as the different Textures make each colour unique.
ReplyDeleteLove those colours, very 70s, but still fresh and bright!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! My husband bought that book for me on Amazon...but I guess they are sold out and not expecting to be restocked until the 18th at the earliest. Ugh. I am dying to get my hands on it!
ReplyDeleteThis is just beautiful. Adore the colors! I do hope Angela Walters sees this post. You have done her justice with the quilting.
ReplyDeleteI am MADLY in love with this quilt. It is just fantastic. It reminds me so much of 70's advertising and coloring, and yet it looks so FRESH and modern.
