WIP Wednesday

It has been a little while since I have posted a WIP post but I have actually been working on stuff.

1.  My Rocky Mountain Puzzle queen sized quilt top is finished.  I have been working on it here and there and somehow it is now complete.  See that fabric sticking out underneath on the left?  That is the backing fabric and it is the reason why this project has stalled.  I am a little short on the print for this backing and I haven't figured out how to remedy that situation yet.
2.  Curtains for the master bedroom.  I don't know why I thought it was a good idea to make curtains because I really, really hate making them.  I also hate hanging the curtain rod which is probably actually the worst part.  Drills and levels and I don't mix well.  I have completed the panels for the biggest window in the room and have almost finished the panels for the second window.  The fact that my husband has pure hatred for this print has really put a damper on wanting to finish these.  They are lined with blackout fabric though which has helped keep our room cool in the afternoons, it gets a lot of sun.
3.  Pillowcases for the kids.  Okay, this isn't really a WIP, they are complete, but they have been on the to do list for so long and I just finished them last night so I am listing them anyway.  The kids needed new pillowcases in the rotation and I am totally in love with these Super Hero prints from Ann Kelle.  I used the simple and fantastic tutorial from Film in the Fridge for the pillowcases.
Super Kids Pillowcases
On the to do list for later this week . . .
  • Farmer's wife blocks.  I have completed 3 blocks and I am really not loving the templates, but I am committed to using them for most of the quilt at least so I need to make peace with them.
  • Scrap quilt for my sister.  I have a plan and the fabric is scattered all over my sewing room, I just need to find my copy of Vintage Quilt Revival that is buried under the fabric and I will get started.

  6. Hope inspiration strikes with that quilt back! Sorry to hear your husband doesn't like the curtains--my husband HATES shopping for curtains, rugs, etc...but also has a very strong opinion on what he likes in the house, so I end up spending hours looking for things he might like, email them to him, he nixes like 99% and we finally compromise on the 1%...or I go shopping without him with a girlfriend, and we agree on curtains, and I buy them and install them and he just DEALS WITH IT. haha...men are a pain sometimes ;-)

  7. I don't know how they're lined but would it work if you turned the curtains around? Then all your work wouldn't be wasted. They are a powerful statement and husbands are such simple creatures...

  8. I wanna say the yahoo site has paper piecing instructions

  9. I make my templates out of freezer paper. That eliminates the tracing on fabric or pinning which makes using templates more tolerable for me.
