a quilt for sale for a cause

This past week a friend went into labor.  After her labor had progressed for a while the doctors realized that the baby was in distress and they rushed her in for a c-section.  Unfortunately they were not fast enough; baby Elias had the cord wrapped around his neck three times and he passed away during childbirth.

The efforts that the doctors took to save Elias' life has left his parents with high hospital bills in addition to the unexpected cost of his funeral.  My heart is just broken for them.

A fund has been set up to help support the family and you can find more information as well as a link to the Paypal fund here.

The Etsy listing for the Stacked Squares quilt is here. SOLD

  3. So, so hard. All of us who are mothers and who read this story feel an ache in our hearts tonight.

  4. I can't imagine the pain they are going through. I recently lost my husband to suicide. The pain lingers and never seems to go away. I hope the fund will ease some of it.

  5. Oh how horrible for that poor family. Childbirth is meant to be natural but we know all too well what can go wrong! I also really struggle with the thought of having all those expenses now too. Good on you for your donation.

  8. I am truly sorry. No one ever expects to have to bury a child. Last July my daughter lost a child the same day my ex-husband (of only 7 months) was found dead in his apartment. I also had a second MRI to try find a cause for double vision. So, I'm not looking forward to the anniversary of that date ever again. I'm in a grief share group. Those of us who have lost spouses cannot understand the loss those who have a child have. I will be praying for Peace for your friend. She is blessed to have a friend like you.
