You might have noticed that things have been a little quiet around here. After having a miscarriage a few months ago I have had a difficult time believing that this is real . . .
Yes, congratulations! May is the perfect time of year! Not too cold and not too hot. My poor Mother had me in West Texas before air conditioning, when ladies were supposed to dress nicely, in August. I don't know how she ever forgave me, ha,ha! Of course, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I know that is a separate sadness that takes its own time to heal. Thank goodness this life also gives us great joys. And I am looking forward to greeting your great bundle of joy in May! Beth Magistra13 at yahoo dot com
I am so happy for you and your family. Your daughter and son will be at a good age to be the big siste and big brother. I'll keep you all in my prayers.
Huge congratulations love! *hugs* that is so exciting. I can understand your hesitancy to believe it is real, but soak it all in! I gave birth to my son stillborn last April, I really relate to your pain. Enjoy each moment of the pregnancy and I can't wait to see the new bundle of joy!
Congratulations Erika! I can sympathize with the feelings following a miscarriage, having had 4 of them myself, along with 4 healthy babies as well. Your little ones are so cute, and all that hair on your daughter! Hope your pregnancy is non eventful and that you are gifted with a beautiful, healthy baby. May is a good month to give birth, as you have the entire summer to take your baby out and about, although I may be partial, given it's the month in which I were born. LOL lv2bquilting2@comcast.net
I am sorry for the loss of your baby. I know that grief well. And in the same breath "yay for babies!!!". We are due with baby #9 late March/early April. I'm 19 weeks now and *finally* feeling better! Congratulations!!!
Congratulations! I'm actually due in May as well! May 6 to be specific. Fun to think we'll be hitting similar milestones at the same time. :-) look forward to following along.
Rosemary B here: Erika, I am so happy for all of you. God Bless you. I know you will have a smooth and easy pregnancy. This baby is already loved.
I think many of us can relate to the miscarriage. I have had several too. It takes time to heal, and come to terms. I am an olden nurse, so I can just say, that it is never your fault or something you did. God makes our bodies strong. It just happens.
Jenelle over at Echinops and Aster posted today about a curated collection competition going on over at Sew Lux . Putting together mosaics is the perfect thing to do during my kids' naps (and they actually napped today!) so I couldn't resist. I am normally a fan of cooler colors, but I love all of these prints and the chilly weather has definitely drawn me to these autumn colors. I am going to call my mosaic Autumn Evenings. If you haven't already checked out the competition, you can find the details and linkup here !
If you haven't already checked it out, Alyce over at Blossom Heart Quilts is hosting a blogger bundle competition with Randi at Fresh Squeezed Fabrics . I think these kinds of competitions are SO MUCH FUN. As much as I enjoy all aspects (or at least most aspects) of making a quilt, picking out fabrics is definitely the best part. I wanted to make a mosaic using some of my favorite prints right now. I knew that I wanted to use the Cosmo Cricket text print ; I love that it has all of these positive words and phrases and it is such a pretty shade of pink. I also wanted to use an Oh Deer print (because it is so cute!), this Madrona Road print (which I love but I haven't been able to justify buying), and then some coordinating prints and a solid . I am calling my mosaic Sunshine Road because I love all of the happy colors and words. I am trying to focus more on the positive things in life and this group of fabrics feels very positive to me :)
This month I used my Culcita Box fabrics to make a chevron baby quilt. Like I mentioned , these fabrics are a little outside my comfort zone. As a general rule for myself, I try not to buy fabrics that have a lot of contrast within them. They are beautiful and some people do beautiful things with them, but I tend to have a hard time using them. But despite being a little nervous about using them, I am so pleased with how the quilt turned out! I ended up omitting the pink circle fabric from the bundle because I wanted something with a little more orange to it, so I subbed in Kona Mango. I also added a black Art Gallery triangle print that I had in my stash. These are 60 degree chevrons and I quilted it with a random 60 degree grid. I was happy to find this Katarina Roccella print in my stash for the backing and I used more of the black triangle print for the binding. I stitched the binding down with Perle cotton. This quilt is now listed in my Etsy s...
Congratulations!!!!
