Intertwined Quilt Update

Image
Find out more information about this pattern here .   It has been a few months , but while my Mom was visiting recently I picked up my Intertwined quilt to finish the hand quilting.  It really doesn't look much different than last time I shared it, but it took a whole bunch of time so it is getting its own post. Originally I had quilted lines in each of the prints/colored solids that were 1" apart, but that left the background squares blank.  It was the perfect opportunity for a little hand quilting.   I used some silvery grey Valdani perle cotton and did some chunky stitches.  It's nothing major, but I like how it turned out. This quilt is now available in my Etsy shop. Finished size: 63" x 70" I am working on a pattern for this quilt (though it will be constructed differently) and am looking for at least one more pattern tester.  I am going to write instructions for a baby, lap, and twin size version.  Is anyone interested in testing for me? I have received se

Lots of Pink Baby Quilt

I have always been a fan of darker, more muted colors.  So when I started quilting I found something surprising: I really like pink.  And not just the sweet, soft pinks, but the bright, crazy pinks.  So for no particular reason I decided the other day that I needed to make a pink quilt. Quilt held by my sister-in-law, thanks Denise! I decided to make a hexagon quilt because they are fun and they are fairly quick and it's not a shape that I work with very often.  And other than squares, it seems to be the shape that I most closely associate with quilts. I quilted it with an "organic" grid again.  It isn't precise or perfect looking, but I love the feel it gives to the finished quilt.   My color inspiration came from this great Sarah Jane quilt.  That bunny is too cute.   The binding fabric is a new favorite: Kona Punch.   Finished size: 40" x 49" Backing: Sommer Bloom Tulip Tangled (available here , here , here , or here ) Binding: Kona Punch (available here

The Debbie Quilt - A Pattern

Image
After I finished working on The Carol Quilt pattern , I knew that I wanted to make a lap size version of the  Striped Chevrons Tutorial  that I made almost 3 years ago (crazy!).  I have received several emails from people asking for fabric requirements, more detail, or instructions on how to make the quilt larger. So I decided my next project would be a lap size version of this quilt with fabric requirements, diagrams, and more clearly written instructions.  Meet The Debbie Quilt !  It is a generously sized lap quilt at 65" x 74." The free tutorial will remain on my blog, but this pattern is easier to follow.  Also, this pattern is the perfect size to use with a jelly roll! I had some wonderful, extremely helpful, and talented pattern testers test this pattern for me. 1.   Carol's Salt Water Taffy Quilt I love that Carol used such a wide variety of colors, her quilt is stunning! 2.   Camille's quilt  I was so excited when I saw that not only was Camille's quilt

The Ugly Scrap Quilt

Edited to add: I hope this post doesn't come off in the wrong way.  I made much more traditional looking quilts for my son's teachers and, since this is a small school, they will likely see the quilts I made for each other and I am worried she is going to wonder why I made this crazy quilt for her.  I do like the quilt, it is just much louder than I expected so I wasn't sure what to do.  Thank you for all of your words of support! Have you ever finished a quilt top and thought, "Wow, that is kind of ugly!"?  I posted this question on Instagram the other day when I finished the quilt top.  I had some very sympathetic, helpful responses, and while it does usually help to quilt and bind the project, I felt a little like I was putting lipstick on a pig. This one is a little crazy. Normally when I make a scrap quilt I spend some time evaluating how the scraps will work together. This time my only criteria was that the scrap was large enough to cut a 3.5" square fr
