Craftsy Pattern Issues

Image
Over the past month (since Craftsy redesigned their site) I have heard from several people who had issues downloading patterns that they purchased from Craftsy.  They are aware that this is an issue and haven't been able to resolve it yet. Once their website lets me view the pattern order history (that portion of their website is currently not functioning), I will be emailing each person that purchased my pattern from Craftsy over the past few weeks with a link to download the pattern PDFs. In the meantime, if you are interested in purchasing one of my patterns, they are all available on Etsy and appear to be downloading fine.  If you have any issues, please contact me at kitchentablequilting@gmail.com and I will help resolve them as quickly as possible.

Kona Highlight Plaid Mini Quilt

Image
A few months ago I got an email from the wonderful people at Robert Kaufman asking me if I would like to make a mini quilt highlighting the Kona color of the year, Highlight.  Yes, yes, yes! They sent me a big stack of different Kona colors and gave me freedom to do whatever I wanted as long as the finished quilt was 20" square and as long as it highlighted Highlight. Here is my finished quilt.  My inspiration came from a box of tissues that had a simple plaid pattern - I wish I had taken a photo of it before it got lost in our move.  It was so much fun to spend so much focused time on this project.  I made large template pieces to construct the block and then handquilted lines 1/2" apart, leaving the highlight strips unquilted.  I am thinking about turning this into a pattern to make a quilt for my son's bed but I will need to come up with a simpler way to put it together. My quilt - along with 59 others - was in a Kona Color of the Year booth at Quilt Market this past w

The Glenda Quilt Pattern (and scrap giveaway)

Image
A while back when I made this pillow for a swap, I had the idea to make a Tennessee Waltz inspired quilt where there were overlapping chains of stars.  I get ideas like this sometimes and they pretty much never work out, but I drafted the pattern in EQ7 and it actually worked. Meet The Glenda Quilt, now available on Craftsy and Etsy . She is named after a teacher that I had from 6-8th grade.  Glenda Maxwell is one of the most compassionate, patient, and kookiest people I have ever met.  She took individual interest in all of her students and she had a profound impact on my life.   For this quilt I used Michael Miller Cotton Couture solids.  When I was planning the colors for this quilt, I kept coming back to Cotton Couture because they have the best shades of blue/greens.  The colors that I ended up using were Bottle, Teal, Celestial, Peacock, Spearmint, Kiwi, Nickel, Lillypad, Fog, and Bright White.  I had three wonderful testers test out this pattern for me.   Miranda used Bo

A Ziggity Zag Quilt

My cousin and his wife are expecting their first baby and, knowing that their baby shower would probably land right in the middle of our move, I made this quilt a few weeks ago. I have a LOT of cousins - somewhere in the 40-50 range - plus my husband has at least as many as I do, so there is no way I could make a quilt for each of my cousin's babies. I am closest with my cousins on my mom's side, so I decided that I would make a quilt for each of their first babies. So far only a couple of them have kids, but there are probably a lot of baby quilts in my future. They wanted a quilt that used navy and lime.  I hope they don't mind that I took a little liberty with that because I have virtually no lime fabrics in my stash.  I ended up adding some other greens, blues and yellows as well as a whole bunch of grays.   This quilt could also be called "Ode to Carolyn Friedlander." Sometimes a designer makes fabrics that are just in the right colors for a project, and that

I'm here! And I have news!

No, I haven't given up on blogging, you can't get rid of me that easily. Things are going to be a little slower here for a little bit though because . . . we are moving! Even though it seems like I just barely made this post , this move has been a long time coming. For the past seven years my husband has been an attorney at a big law firm. There have been times when he liked it and times when he hated it, but pretty much all of the time it has been a lot of stress for the whole family. A few months ago we bought a Powerball ticket when there was a huge jackpot. We knew we weren't going to win. And we didn't. But we were both surprised how disappointed we were that he couldn't quit his job. Or could he? What else could he do? Certainly nothing that would pay anything close to his current salary, so that would require moving away from our beloved San Diego since our mortgage here is, well, not small. So we started looking at jobs, and applying for jobs. After several
